I am unable to order any items from HSN because my address has been blocked from ordering. Apparently someone else at this address owes HSN a lot of money, and it is their policy to block thae address from ordering to protect themselves.

However, I live in an apartment building in NYC with over 70 apts.

I gave tthem my apt # to show this.

While the supervisor I spoke with sympathized with me , he said they would TRY to get the block removed for me, which would take 3 to 5 business days--but could not make any guarantees. I feel that this policy is very strange and quite unfair to those of us living in apts.

Location: New York, New York

I agree! My home was blocked because of a tenant and an easy pay order they didn't pay.

Even though I had account prior to the tenant and in good standing. The policy is ridiculous and punishes people for the acts of others...I moved on...

The same thing happened to me two years ago while I was living in an apartment complex here in Miami. There were 750 units, about 250 per building and I used to order things online pretty much once a week sometimes multiple times in a week.

Up to them I used to pay out of my checking account then one day they blocked me from purchasing. I asked why and they gave me the same reason. I mentioned QVC was offering a similar item - diamond ring - and my account was cleared in less than 24 hours! Shortly after that they offered me their card and then that's when the true nightmare with their customer service began ...

I have since closed my account, moved away and swore I will never purchase another item from HSN as long as I live. I *** have spent over $50.00 in 15 years of shopping with them.

I now shop at Nordstrom and Saks. They love their customers!

This is a very common practice with HSN..

As an employee, I can tell you it's done to help protect the business.

While they will typically work with you, there is no guarantee.

It's done b/c people will buy something on flexpay, and not pay the future payments.

One bad apple, spoils the bunch.

It sucks for people who want to buy, but it's good for them.

I realize this is old, but this just happened to me today. How could this be good business practice?

How about simply going after the people who owe who didn't pay, via collections or something?

Not punish the next person in the same location, at least give us a chance to default on a payment or something. they gave me their credit card with a high available balance, now I can't even use it.

The same thing happened to us! My husband and I bought our house 3 years ago.

Just last week, I placed my very first order through HSN and chose the flex pay option since I thought it was a pretty good deal on an item I really wanted. Neither my husband or I have EVER purchased anything from HSN before. A couple of days later, they suddenly cancelled my order without any notification whatsoever. I only found out because I went to check my order status to see if it had been shipped yet and it said it had been cancelled.

I got right on the phone and called HSN customer service to find out what in the heck was going on and why my order had been cancelled. They had even billed my Visa card for the first payment, so I was totally confused. I was told that someone who lived at our address before us owed HSN money, so our address had been "blocked" from placing orders. What in the *** does this other person have to do with me????

I am a completely different person and my husband and I just bought this house 3 years ago and that person no longer lives here! Why should my husband and I not be allowed to place orders with HSN just because someone who we have never even heard of owes HSN money, only because they used to live at this address??? That makes NO sense whatsoever! I was flabbergasted and furious!

That would be the equivalent of a bank telling me that I couldn't get a loan through them because the person who lived at my address before me had a loan through them and defaulted. I couldn't believe it! I explained to the HSN "customer service" rep that I have NEVER ordered from them before and that I have absolutely no idea who this other person was. I even offered to send them a copy of my driver's license as ID to prove I am who I say I am and that I am not this "other" person who owes them money from a few years ago!

They said that wouldn't do any good and that this is just "their policy". I'm still in shock from the who thing! I have never heard of anything like this before!

Oh well. I just took my business elsewhere and ended up finding the same item for a better price!
